NICK CURLY BLAHSKIBOO

As Nick Curly returns to 8-bit records (his own co-run label established in 2006), he brings with him the Zero Love EP. This track, taken from the EP, is ‘Blahskiboo’ - an interesting take on electronic dance music. While the pulsing beat persists throughout the track, a jangly, dissonant chord make itself known in every bar. There is clear minimalist influence on the track, as the loops that maintain throughout combine with a gradual textural build that swells until it crashes back into the straight-to-the-point beat. Alongside his catalogue of fantastic tracks, Curly has also managed to sign talent like Drumcode and Cocoon to the label’s roster. -Dan Peeke
